Material success. Generosity. Giving and taking.
The Six of Pentacles is about a flow of energy on the material level, which means it’s about the flow of money into and out of your life (or your business, if that was your question).
This financial flow can be in the form of generosity, gifts, and charity.
The sixes are often about harmony, and here it shows harmony with money and material possessions.
The resources you need to complete a task may become available, but you will still be called upon to take action in order to receive them.
You may be fortunate with money.
Some sort of gratification could be indicated. Happiness related to the money flowing into your life or flowing out (in the case of a charity you support or people you help).
The Six of Pentacles also shows success and material gain in any form of enterprise. If you draw this card in relation to your business, it is generally positive, although it could also be telling you to pay attention to the salaries, benefits, and working conditions of your employees.
Other meanings can include power, influence, and rank (as signified by the rich man). Some older readings relate the card to nobility, whilst this could sometimes the case, in the modern world this is more likely to take on the meaning of employers, bankers, or wealthy relatives.
On the negative side, this could sometimes be arrogance or haughtiness caused by personal wealth.
As always, part of the meaning will be derived from the other cards you draw—from these you will be able to see if the basic meaning is more positive or negative.
The Six of Pentacles reversed can mean the opposites of the upright meanings, these can include greed, desires for wealth, envy, and jealousy.
There could also be blockage in your ability to gain or manage money.
Perhaps you’ve begun to change your attitude to money, but this hasn’t translated into the outer world yet.
The Rider-Waite Six of Pentacles shows a rich man (possibly a noble or a business man) holding a balance in his left hand, and dropping coins or gold into the hands of a kneeling beggar. Another beggar with broken clothes waits to the right.
The esoteric title of the card is the Lord of Material Success.
Astrologically, the Six of Pentacles represents the Moon in Taurus.
